Top: Coral Bleaching alongside Mangroves. Middle: Coral Bleaching Proxies. Bottom: Strung bleached coral, displayed in Moka, Mauritius.
Ballpoint pen and watercolor on paper, 18x24". The two pieces here were presented as part of a group show for the Mauritius World Ocean's Gala hosted by the Charge d'Affaires to Mauritius, Dr. Melanie Zimmerman in September 2016. The pieces began by collecting bleached corals along the east coast of Mauritius. The pieces read as an abstracted proxy for coral bleaching in the Indian Ocean, documenting the number of major bleaching events at intervals of 5 years beginning in 1980.
